I bought a bumper baby bed the (nursery) When can I use? I heard it can cause SIDS when using any baby is a newborn. Is this true? Is it possible to use a mattress (it's wrapped in plastic because of health reasons) and put a mattress protector and sheet on the mattress so the baby does not hit the plastic? Some people say that it would be a choking hazard, but I do not see why it is covered with a thick mattresses and sheets?
You can absolutely use the bumper for your baby. Make sure it is not very generous, and has ties to bind outside the nursery. If you find that your baby is inching closer to the sides and sleep against the bumper, so I suggested to remove. Regarding the plastic, just keep it. A guard and leaves are an excellent idea. Make sure your child (when they are about 6 months) did not enjoy playing in the leaves and remove them. A guard is difficult to pass through well. Good luck!
